The Comfort of Photographs

by Gallagater

The room was barren, devoid of personality.

It could well have been a barracks.

But it wasnít.

It was home.

But it wasnít.

Then one day he remembered his own gesture of comfort to Malaki.

A trembling shout. "I could never live that over again."

The manís hands as he held the picture of his wife.

The manís face as he gazed at her image.

He understood the pain.

So he unpacked . . .

Memories . . .

Pictures . . .

Placed them carefully.

Sweets to be devoured . . .

Relished . . .

In his bedroom where only he would see . . .

Remember . . .

His life.

And he gazed at his past and was comforted.
